In partnership with El Paso Community College (EPCC), the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), and
several local high schools, Books Are GEMS' staff train students to aid in general bookstore operations.
This gives young adults the opportunity to fulfill school requirements while gaining practical new skills.
Other Adults may also Volunteer!
What do volunteers do ?
We are Taking Special Precautions for all Staff & Volunteers due to COVID 19.
Staff & Volunteers will have their temperature checked daily, must wear a face mask, must use hand sanitizer, practice social distancing on their assigned work spaces and use plastic gloves in various situations!
Volunteer Duties: Sort and Place books in bags by Grade & Gender. Keep the bookstore work areas clean and tidy Answer the Phone & Provide Information Develop digital images for posting on Social media Data Entry to email platform Call participants & Remind of upcoming events Occasionally Read on Saturdays during Virtual Storytime Develop activities for Storytime And much, much more! |
To volunteer:
Select the appropriate volunteer application, fill it out, and submit.
Once the form is submitted, adults are required to pay a $3 background check fee. When the background check is finalized, a training session will be scheduled. Volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. |
