Our Mission

Books Are GEMS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire children and empower families through literacy.
Located in El Paso, Texas, we serve our region by Providing Free Books to Children in Our Efforts to increase Literacy Rates in El Paso County, Southern New Mexico and Ft. Bliss communities!
Our Current Program, Has Changed to Seven Free Books for Kids. Now kids are from Toddler to High School! Each child receives One New Book and Six gently used books. That's 7 Free Books for Each Child.
Parents Can pick up books for children without kids being present! Yes, while kids are in school, parents can stop by and select books for each child in the family!
Remember, there are many times that we also give away an additional Free book for Saturday Story Time to the First 50 Families that Visit the Bookstore that specific week!

Our Vision
Our vision is to see a book
in the hands of every child in our community. By putting a book into the hands of every child in our community, we are changing lives one book at a time. Our goal is to make books easily accessible to all families, thereby increasing literacy, fluency, and comprehension in children and their parents. |
