Thirteen portraits of women who made awe-inspiring strides show that perseverance can make a massive impact! From activist and abolitionist Harriet Tubman to physicist and astronaut Sally Ride, powerful American women from diverse backgrounds are featured in mini biographies that highlight each woman’s hurdles and successes—and most importantly, how choosing not to take “no” for an answer changed the world. Throughout United States history, there have always been women who have spoken out for what's right, even when they have to fight to be heard. In this book, Chelsea Clinton celebrates thirteen American women who helped shape our country through their tenacity, sometimes through speaking out, sometimes by staying seated, sometimes by captivating an audience. They all certainly persisted.
